Birthday Time!
Happy Birthday to Laura week! My birthday was on Tuesday and it was a blast. Brian woke me up and made me breakfast. Then he took me out to lunch. Then, when I came home there were flowers waiting for me. Then he and I made dinner and his brother's family, sister's family, and dad all came over for a family dinner. It was a great day.
I'm in a jogging class this semester, so my grade depends on my motivation to get outside and run! It's hard, but I'm glad I'm doing it because I want to get more in shape. Getting married sure works a number on your exercise program!
Meanwhile, Brian is still working on all the personal statements and letters of recommendation for his application for dental school. If anyone knows of a good place where you can get a great personal statement for a really low price, let us know :)

We're still alive!
OK, so a hundred years later I'm finally getting around to updating our blog! Last semester was a crazy one. Brian and I saw each other for about 45 minutes everyday if we were lucky. But we made it! And the sun is out, which means life is wonderful, so we're very happy.
Brian is not going to school this summer (yes, I'm jealous). He's working on campus at a job where he can spend a lot of time studying for the Dental Admissions Test. Yikes! He plans on taking the test in June sometime. Dental school applications really snuck up on us. We're looking at different schools and trying to decide where to apply. It's a pretty competitive field, but Brian works hard and he's a smarty, so I know he'll make it in somewhere.
I'm taking classes and working a little bit during Spring Term. I don't have to go to school during Summer Term, so I'm looking forward to that! Other than school and work, life is pretty much the same for us these days.
My sister Andrea is expecting twin boys in July, so we're getting pretty excited about that. Also, Brian's sister Kim is expecting a baby next week and our sister-in-law Emily is expecting a baby in November. Our families are getting bigger all the time!

Our Wedding
Our Story
Brian's side of the story:
Laura and I have been in the same BYU student ward for the past two years. One of the early memories I have interacting with Laura was right after my mission when a group of people from our ward went to play ultimate Frisbee at a park inProvo . I was very impressed with how athletic and competitive she was. She, unknowingly, made a very good impression on me. I did not impress her at all however. During the game we both jumped high for the Frisbee and we collided really hard. It was my fault and I felt really bad. She wasn’t too happy about it either. She has forgiven me now and we can both laugh about it. When she tells people our story she says the day that I ran into her on the ultimate field was the first time I “took her out”. Although we have known each other for over two years, we didn’t start dating until this past February. I always thought that Laura was super cute and very fun to be around, but it took me a while to gain the courage to ask her out because so many other guys were asking her out. I had to beat away all of her other prospects! Our first date really didn’t go that well. Things really didn’t flow. We got stuck playing a game I had never played before and I really embarrassed myself.
Despite a rough beginning, I still really wanted to ask her out again. Several weeks later I asked Laura out again and, somewhat to my surprise, she said yes. Our second date was much better than the first. We have seen each other or talked on the phone everyday since then.
During the summerLaura came to Lake Powell with my family. Everyone with us was telling me how great she was and teased me saying they couldn’t believe how I got such a great girl. We were both thinking about the possibility of getting married. Those who know me know that I love to wakeboard and water-ski. I knew that Laura was the girl for me when she got up on the wakeboard on her very first try! She is amazing!
I am so happy to be marrying Laura. She is so wonderful. She makes me so happy and fills my life with excitement.
Laura's side of the story:
I met Brian my junior year at BYU. He lived just across the sidewalk. We saw each other all the time. My first interaction with him came when he asked my roommate Addie out on a date. Nothing came of it, but our apartments stayed friends through the rest of that year. I always thought Brian was cute, but he was sort of quiet and didn't seem interested in spending a lot of time talking. I didn't think he was interested in me because he never really made a point to come and talk to me. It turns out he was just quiet around girls!
The next year, Brian finally got around to asking me out. Our first date was a disaster. We went with two other couples, and one of the other boys spent most of the night talking about himself. Conversation that night did not flow. The whole night felt rather forced and when I got home I told my roommate that nothing would probably ever happen between us. I didn't even expect to go on another date with Brian. I still thought he was a nice guy and very handsome, but I just didn't think we worked together.
After about two months, though, Brian asked me out again. By that time, both of us had forgotten how bad that first date was and we were ready to try it out again. Since that time, we've seen each other almost every day. Brian is such a nice, honest, genuine, hard working person. He makes me smile and he really cares about me. I feel so lucky to be marrying him!
